A stick from Cigar International’s brown bag. I’m not a big fan of Gurkha’s having sampled some earlier on in my learning experience. However, I quite enjoyed this one. The Regent contains tobaccos that have been aged 5 years, a similar treatment found a favorite of mine from Victor Sinclair in the Series 55.

I always appreciate a box pressed stoagie’s smooth draw and how it centralizes the taste from the puff. This Gurkha doesn’t fail there as the smoke delivers a smooth, mildly-warm smoke with an initial mild pepper taste that quickly hits the tongue and side of the mouth. A spicey, dry wood taste is noticable initially, where a light citrus aftertaste remains as well as the pepper. Deep puffs and a retrohale bring out more of the dry wood, but also a coco sweetness, a little more citrus sweetness and a bitter quality. A unique tobacco flavor becomes noticeable on the aftertaste throughout the smoke. It’s actually quite enjoyable.

The aroma is great with a cool, light smoke that’s easy on the nose. A warm, chocolaty sweetness is quite noticable bringing along nips of a pepper if inhaled too much. There’s an earthy tobacco quality to be found when it idles.

I like this Gurkha Regent, I know this brand goes on sale often on the larger eTailers, so I may keep an eye out on this. While the smoke doesn’t evolve much, it is an enjoyable rich, deep tasting & scented cigar that’s mild in strength.
