A very spicy meatball from the Pepin family in Esteli, Nicaragua. This cigar isn’t for the timid with it’s peppery potency, which caused me to smoke it slowly. Despite setting the mouth ablaze with a coating of pepper all around, it has a distinct warm smokey flavour and a light caramel sweetness that remains on the front of the tongue. Retrohaling this is difficult for me as the pepper wildly stings through the nose. Keeping the smoke held in the mouth is easier, where you’ll discover coffee and a smoked meat taste.
The aroma is very unique but also can’t be taken in too much due to the hotness and peppery nip it delivers. A sugary scent is layered in a sweet citrus aroma with a distinct tobacco quality.
I found it difficult to enjoy the cigar from the pepper, it’s pretty overwhelming. It does have some enjoyment if you can get past this, and it did mellow out a little by the end. But overall, not something I’d smoke again.
