Victory’s Twelve is one my my favourite fallback beers that’s commonly found in most respectable beer & liquor locations. Originally gifted to me via a co-worker, Gavin, I’ve been hooked ever since.

This beer has quite a lot to offer with respectable regards to restraint on its overall alcohol strength and taste. While at a 12% alcohol content, it’s by no means a laid back beer, but it still seems to not weigh in as heavily as other equally strengthed-brews; and its taste may allude to that.

At first sip, the beer has a sweet buttery taste, but not as strong as Rogue’s Double Dead Guy (which I compare to only in this buttery sense). An equal layer of hops quickly covers the tongue and mouth while a quick mild-seltzer fizz pops in the mouth, leaving behind a sweet caramel like taste but still mildly hoppy, and if you taste closely, a bit of a bitterness.

This beer is not too heavy, not too alcoholic, and not too poignant in any one sense. It’s just right, and not in a dull and predictable way. It’s a well enjoyed, and dare I say, sought-after balance that makes this an easily-enjoyable brew for any occasion or time that won’t put you to sleep or out for the count. It’s an easily found beer that’s easy to enjoy, and I love it for that.
