The beer we are brewing together at our Rehoboth pub is a Belgian White made with dried organic orange slices, fresh cut lemongrass and a bit of coriander. The gesture Namaste represents the belief that there is a Divine spark within each of us that is located in the heart chakra. The gesture is an acknowledgment of the soul in one by the soul in another. In other words it is a show of mutual respect and admiration – a great single word summary of the inspiration behind this brew.

I finally took a trip to Eulogy Belgian Tavern in Philadelphia, home to over 300 beers! And my first was of course a draft selection, this Namaste.

There’s some good reading behind Dogfish Head’s Namaste, so definitely give that a read. Now, while I am normally not a fan of white beers, I did enjoy this quite a bit. It had flavour! And it was sweet. Not too overpowering, not bitter or hoppy, but just…relaxing. For a Belgian White, this had gumption! I highly recommend giving this a shot on draft even if you do not care for White beers, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
