This full-bodied Imperial Stout was brewed with three different types of Rye to add depth to an already complexmaltiness. Pungent Columbus and spicy Tettnang hops are blended to balance out this warming ale.
My third and final beer of the evening at Eulogy Belgian Tavern was another recommendation from their stellar barman. I asked for an infused beer, along the lines of Scotch or Bourbon that I have enjoyed in the recent past. Once again, he delivered…with angels singing in the sky and a beam of light upon the bar.
Aged in rye & whiskey barrels and infused with three types of Rye, this stellar concoction is silky smooth with a nice smoky quality that I always long for in a brew. Full of a rich, chocolatey stoutness, it’s offset by a tasteful yet ever-present hard alcohol taste and texture. But it’s not overpowering, or by accident! The balance is heavenly. It melts in the mouth to leave behind a sweet taste with a very subtle alcohol. And that smoke, mmmm, it’s so delectable. I’m very surprised to find such a fresh, full taste from a bottle and not draft. But this beer does it all with a pricetag that’s just amazing.
I love it, and I will get more.
