Cold Spring Honey Almond Weiss

The spring is one of the purest sources of water in North America. The spring comes from an underground prehistoric glacial lake filtered through granite over hundreds of years. There are certain pure elements in the water that are absolutely perfect for brewing world class beers.

I saw this at a local store in the ginourmous Double-Pint can and figured why not. Well then! Yeah.

While all the advertising literature on the can about the source of water coming from naturally filtered water used to brew their crafts, this beer … was a let down. Yep, it sucked. It’s quite seltzery; about on par with a San Pellegrino water. However, it’s just the overall taste that is not appealing to me. It’s quite bitter on taste but not in a good way; like a sour cardboard texture entering the mouth in liquid form. There is a sweetness noted from the Honey, however, it’s fairly mild and not very honey-like. Moreover; the almond essence seems to distract from the overall taste than add to it, giving it that cardboard sense I mention. Overall, it’s a lighter-tasting beer but with a strong, unsettling presence akin to, dare I say it, standard beers like Budweiser and PBR. But with a gag essence.

I gave it a try, I’ll continue to try random finds, and note them here on my blog. This beer was not for me, though I will give their IPA a shot; I am curious how their water source renders one of my favorite styles of brews. Here’s hoping hopping!
