The second brew of the day at Triumph Brewery in New Hope, PA, I decided to go with this english bitter.

Another seemingly-flat ale from the hand-pumped tap (I will add, I am not against low-seltzer beers; in fact, I enjoy them a lot. However, there is a hint of something off when I mention flatness in these mini-takes, as there is a quality about it that seems off), this english style bitter is on the light-mild side overall. A light-hop quality is immediate on first sip, where a light bitter-quality takes over. The namesake quality of this ale is quite subdued; it will not induce wrinkling of the nose, pruning of the tongue, or other odd facial gestures from an overpowering bitterness. It is a simple quality that can be enjoyed without fear of overpowering. A good beer by all means for a meal, or simply relaxing out on a balcony watching old-world coal-powered trains pass by. However, it does not offer much else in terms of individuality, except for a pleasant sweet aftertaste.

Don’t let the name scare you away (or excite you); this bitter is quite subdued. Not a bad thing, but not a standout, either.
