A forum post I started on Puff.com asking about cheap daily smokes had several members recommending this Famous Smoke’s Honduran Selection 3000 cigar. So, I ordered a bundle of Churchills.

This review comes near the finish of that bundle with one in particular that has been in the humidor for nearly 3 months now, so I feel it’s time it gets a review having aged some.

The draw is fairly smooth, carrying a bitter quality that lights up on the edges of the tongue, and stinging the middle of it with a cardboard-like hay taste. This hey-like tobacco quality grows stronger when retrohaled, though leaving behind a slightly sweet, almost sugary aftertaste, dusted with a bit of salt. It too is well saturated with the tangy bitterness. Some slight pepper also exists in the taste. It’s not overall pleasant. Tonguing the end of it stings with a salty bitterness.

The aroma, however, is quite enjoyable. There is a distinct tobacco quality throughout the smoke, which blends with a slightly consistent scent of sugary sweetness, citrus and cocoa powder and a hint of salt. It’s somewhat hot to the nose if inhaled deeply.

I can understand why this was recommended, it is a sweet smelling cigar, but the taste is just bitter. I don’t mind a strong tobacco taste, I enjoy that in a cigar actually, but this isn’t a tasteful cigar but albeit an enjoyable aromatic one.
