It went great. Small turnout (30-40 people) because it was -15 fucking degrees in the city. But the folks that showed up were all good, definitly people who wanted to see stuff like ours, friends of other bands, etc. 2 other bands canceled because of the cold.

Techincal Issues

I had a floating-drum pedal problem that night. The kick-drum pedals (which I thought were secure enough when setting up) floated away from me while playing. My right-pedal ended up lodging itself under a cable behind a stage speaker. I mostly played the songs using my left foot pedal. This is the 2nd time this happened to me, the first time was about 8 years ago with National Threat. A couple people in the audience (who turned out to be band memebers themselves) occasionaly pushed one of the peddles back up to me. Thank fucking christ for their kindness.

It was also a bit hard to hear everyone & our backing tracks. Because the way this bar was setup, you had to use their equipment. I was lucky to actually set up my electronic drum kit. This meant we had no monitors to speak of. I got an earfull of my brother playing since he was to my left, but I had to really concentrate to hear anything else.

These were small(!) issues anyhow, we managed to play very well and had the music down at least. I skipped a breakdown on one of the songs because I couldn’t hear shit, otherwise we were tight.

Overall

I spent time after our performance asking people what they thought of us and got nothing but compliments! This rules.

There were a lot of good people there who were into the Industrial / EBM music, everyone was easy to talk to, thankfully no attitudes (except for the last band that played, who cleared the bar). I really hope future performances attract good crowds like this.

Big shoutouts to Mike the DJ who was awesome to bullshit with, Octavio for doing a great job on the keyboards for us, the guy in the Fear Factory shirt playing all the crazy EBM remixes, and of course our beautiful promoter that got us there in the first place.
