On a gorgeous Saturday night, a friend and I visited Flickerwood Tasting Room of Kennet Square, PA and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, the wine & other wine lovers well past their 10:00PM closing time.
While there is no food served here, they allow you to bring your own food (BYOF), and some restaurants, when they have the availability, will even walk an order over to here. We decided to go with a place across the street; Portabello’s of Kennet Square and my god was that also a great decision! I had an amazing appetizer that was recommended by a patron at the tasting room, and one astounding steak, both hand delivered by the owner. Later in the evening, we met the Chef of the restaurant and had a great time talking. I made it a point to mention I was appreciative that he did not cook the steak in butter, like a lot of restaurants do, as well as the generous amount of mushrooms with the steak. He also shared in that sentiment about butter-cooked steaks, and it was fun listening to him talk about food in general.
The DaVinci Wine Sampler
The wine sampler menu breaks wines into their respected sweetness & dryness, including a grouping consisting of half & half of the two. My friend had went with a white sampler, and I the DaVinci sampler which was a grouping of the dry reds. The first was my favorite; the Merlot. The 2nd and 3rd wines I did not care for as they were too juicy and sweet; the second was a bit tangy which I didn’t care for. I don’t remember the last two very well but they were enjoyable, I’ll just have to go back for a re-taste!

Kennet Square is a great place to visit for a lot of great restaurants and relaxed, friendly people. It was awesome to meet the owner & chef of Portabello’s as they hung out for a while with us & other patrons of the tasting room. Good times were had and we loved the friendliness of everyone!
